CHIANTI CLASSICO DOCG GRAN SELEZIONE
Ormanni's Chianti is indeed the highest expression of the Sangiovese grape and the winemaking tradition. It is produced from carefully selected Sangiovese grapes from the oldest vineyards in the Barberino Val d'Elsa region.
Chianti is nestled within the largest wine region in Tuscany, an area that conjures images of lush green hills and picturesque Roman ruins. This region is famous for Sangiovese, and Chianti is one of the main production areas for this grape, yielding charming wines with tangy and fresh flavors of cherry, strawberry, and red plum.
When you see the term "Classico" on the label of your Chianti, it refers to the historical original growing area, which tends to host the finest vineyards. The regional mascot, a distinctive black rooster, is displayed on the bottle's neck. Expect wines loaded with red cherries and sun-dried tomatoes, earthy and herbaceous notes, tobacco from aging, and a touch of balsamic.
Italian Chianti is versatile when it comes to food pairings, but it truly shines with pizzas, tomato-based dishes, or grilled meats flavored with fresh herbs like rosemary.
